I personally don't have Hopkins in my top twenty middleweights so picking him over the Greatest Fighter that ever Lived is silly! Bernard was certainly better then as a middleweight as opposed to the carnival he tours with as a self promoted grand pop of boxing!!'Sugarman has twice as many knockout wins than Bernard has fights!!! Ray.

Sugar Ray by split decision. Hopkins will take away the majoroty of his combination punches or atleast any effect they would have.

Hopkins beats SSR in my opinion. Prime Hopkins had everything, Robinson also but my pick is Bernard.

Hopkins is an incredible fighter. His real problem is that he does not have any natural gifts that allow him to compete with some of the other greats. I don't necessarily think that a fighter who is great in every area (Sugar Ray Robinson for example) will beat a great fighter who is skilled in one area....Fullmer was incredibly tough and beat Robinson even though Robinson is much more accomplished in many other areas as a fighter...to cite an example.
Hopkins greatest gift is the muscle in his cranium and that, along with superb energy mnanagement, wisdom and fitness has made him a great. Now lets look at the blueprint for this fight: Hopkins faces a guy who is unorthodox, perhaps the most physically gifted fighter of his generation and what happened? Roy Jones really laid it on BHops...no shame there and lets not even talk about the rematch where Jones was a shell of his former self...BHops ran up against the one thing he could not beat....a guy with the physical ability to be faster and have faster feet than he could deal with...same thing happened to Toney.
SRR was better than Jones. He had more weapons and the wisdom and smarts of a BHops or Floyd....Some say that SRR's only weakness was that he didn't like to fight ( I have heard this from a guy I consider as smart as RAY!! haha) to which I say, sheesh we should all be so lucky!!
