I don't like Hopkins style, I don't like watching him box, but there is no way he is outside the top 20 middleweights, indeed I'd like to see a list of 10 who achieved more at the weight than he did.
You may not like him and his style may not be pleasing to the eye but you can't deny the guy knew ... and still knows how to win.
I've often thought the same thing, but grew to like him, because of his dominance at middle, winning the lineal title at light heavy, boxing IQ and now longevity and conditioning. The stoppages early in his career help as well when I was watching some of his fights.
