Officially there is no Harry Greb footage. One day Mr. Bill Cayton found a list with a Greb fight on it, but it was nowhere to be found, so there is no Greb fight.
But: I have dealt with a few fight collectors - and a lot of them have the same mindset: they want to be the only people on the world who own a certain fight or certain footage. Because the more rare it is, the more value it has. And honestly, if any of those guys would ever buy Greb footage from somebody, they would never ever share it. Period
And there is a part of me that understands that mindset but there is also another part of me that cannot stand this attitude. If I have something, I would want to share it with other boxing fans. On the other hand, a lot of people in this world are ungrateful, unthankful _ _ _ _ _ (not gonna cuss here).
I remember once I got myself a rare film (which I paid quite a few dollars for) and there were around 3 people who were looking for that exact same movie since a long time, just like myself. And of course sharing the costs would have been the most obvious solution but they kind of hinted that they cannot afford it right now. So - after thinking about it for some time, I finally decided to buy that film. Then I gave it to my 3 (online) friends and they were very thankful. One of them later turned out to be a complete .......
We were talking about this and that and finally he said something like "and do you regret now that you have paid "xy" dollars for this film? I mean the film is not bad but the quality is not that great?"
He didn't use those exact words, but sensewise it was the same. So - I think to myself: this guy is trash. Excuse my french, but the dude got something from me for free which I paid couple of hundred dollars for and then he wants to make me feel bad because I spend that kind of money for it. That is when I realised that some people just don't deserve something for free.
So - I understand both sides: on the one hand it is hard for me to understand how somebody wouldn't share something and on the other hand, you would give it to a few people who just don't deserve it because they are ungrateful wastes of space.
All that being said - I think there might be some Greb fights somewhere but the owners of the film have no problem with not sharing them and they enjoy knowing that they are the only people who can watch Greb fight.
