  • Tyson Douglas rematch

If tyson had got a rematch with douglas what do people think would of happened? Tyson seemed very motivated when he made his return, (before prison) he showed alot of fire against a worthy opponent razor ruddock. Is it possible for douglas to repeat what he did a second time. Did tyson lose because of the styles and douglas being the better fighter or was it just a blend of tyson at his worst and douglas at his very best? Who wins the second time round?

If Buster shows up in the same poor shape as he did for Holyfield, he gets blown out early. A well conditioned Douglas would still be an uncomfortable matchup for Tyson, but I think he wins the rematch. IMO, Douglas caught lightening in a bottle that night in Japan.

Yeah it often gets forgotten that Mike had 4 fights after the Douglas loss before the **** incident. Odd that an undisputed champ was unable to secure a rematch with Douglas or the guy that beat him (Holyfield,) during that time. But yeah, Tyson would've starched Douglas in the rematch especially if he showed up out of shape.

An in shape Douglas beats any version of Tyson. But, odds are Buster does not come into a rematch in equal shape to the first match.

Tyson would have knocked him out in a rematch.

I think if Douglas would have any chance, an immediate rematch would have been it. He would have that confidence and mental edge and it sure looked like Douglas wasn't the fighter you would want sitting around waiting. He didn't seem to have any discipline when he wasn't in the gym training.

The gap between Douglas and Tyson that night was massive. Mike got completely wrecked....except for that knockdown Mike had zero success and got the **** kicked out of him. His conditioning did not create that gap....his stubby body and arms against a dude that big, boxing like that, is what created the gap.

Does anyone else think that Tyson skills had slid alot by then?

Not a lot, but some. I say a motivated Tyson beats even the best version of Douglas. It would be a hell of a war while is lasted though and Douglas would still land his fair share of shots.

I also think Tyson was demoralized after the long count in the 8th at which point the fight should've been over. Without the special circumstances of Douglas' mother just passing away and no one (including Mike) giving him a chance in hell, no way Buster wins the rematch.
