James Toney. He was inconsistent, but at his best, I think he is just as good as Calzaghe. Calzaghe is a surefire HOFer and an ATG, but Roy is better than the two of those guys put together. Who did Joe ever beat that was as good as a prime Jones?

I said fighters with a pulse in their primes. European fighters don't have a pulse and Hopkins was so far past prime he couldn't see it in his rearview mirror.

To humor you, though, Kessler was a very good fighter. Certainly not an ATG, but solid all around skills, good power, big heart. And he was certainly in his prime when Calzaghe dismantled him. Hopkins wasn't in his prime but he was still good enough to school Kelly Pavlik in his very next fight.

Another very good fighter like Kessler. Solid skills, excellent puncher, just lacked the adaptability to make the jump to elite. My point is, Calzaghe's resume isn't as barren as some people think it is. It's not as stacked as I get the feeling Zagz thinks it is, either, but he's got some wins.

Now I'm a big Hagler fan so take that as you will but, look at the Mugabi fight. Mugabi was not skillster and look at the shots Hagler is taking that he would have slipped or parried in his prime. Look at the missed oppurtunites, if you don't want to take my word I'll type up a report frim George Kimball.

I agree. Hagler was clearly past his best against Leonard and a lot of it showed aginst Mugabi. Which is why then and only then did Leonard agree to fight Hagler. After watching that fight, according to Leonard himself, he called Mike Trainer and said "I can beat Hagler, lets make the fight"
