To be fair Sonny don't you think Willard won because of the length of the bout and the heat rather than in spite of it? Had they have fought over 20 rounds in 70 degrees then the old faded Johnson would still had won IMO

Yes, but then, it was not my contention to bring up Willard-Johnson.

Fair go. Problem with trying to rate Willard is his 2 biggest fights are pretty irrelevant in being used when trying to rank him. Johnson was shot against him and he was shot against Dempsey. Boiling it down he was a heavy puncher who was very durable who took his window of opportunity, that's pretty much Willard IMO

its the fact that Willard could fight for 26rds.. could Lewis?

Different times Sonny different times. Would Willard have lasted 26 rounds against a lot of fighters, we both know Johnson was shot.

i see no reason why Willard could not last 26rds with many other fighters... Johnson was that "shot" he won his next 13 fights....

GJC... lets see your take on the topic question and how you see the fights unfold instead of trying to avoid it while still putting in your ten-penneth

Don't get snippy Sonny. I see Dempsey beating them but that's Dempsey not Willard. Willard was a solid fighter but let's not make him out to be a world beater here!

Ive only seen Willard vs Johnson and vs Dempsey so i might be under qaulified here but im of the opinion Lennox Lewis would have destroyed him. Big guys back then just dont seem to have the mobility, agility or speed these modern big guys do and none of them are more explosive or move as well as Lewis

                      Just my take.
