Boxing promoters would say that the worst time for boxing was when Jack Johnson was champion and they didn't want another black heavyweight champion because there isn't a nickel to be made.

I think Dempsey would have no problem with either Greb or Wills but to say he ducked them just isn't true. It was a different time.

The next black heavyweight champion after Johnson was Joe Louis. It was not acceptable to be black in America at the time we are talking about and nobody wanted a black heavyweight champion.

Stop trying to be a smart ass when you have no idea what you're talking about but just reciting what you have read other people say.

Sorry for that, I like I said I got a bit carried away. I really can't split Dempsey/Holyfield with Tunney would be difficult I'd probably favor Holyfield as I can see him imposing his will on the inside, being very proficient there and a stronger fighter.

The P4P king who whipped Tunney and humiliated Dempsey in sparring is not worthy?

The #1 Heavyweight contender who won 40 straight fights during Dempsey's reign is not worthy?

Jack had 3 or 4 ATGs floating around in his era and didnt beat a single one. He is the most over-rated joke since Mike Tyson.

What happened in sparring means nothing in an actual fight. The fact is Greb was much smaller than Jack Dempsey and didn't hit as hard, and whether he was faster or not remains to be unknown but we do know that Dempsey was extremely fast. Greb lost many fighters not on the level of Dempsey.

It's kind of like how you spew that Jones ducked Darius which is just ******.

No hes not by any means, I personally rank him higher than Dempsey HW but not higher than Tunney P4P, actually just thinking about it they are pretty close imo.

I guess the argument is, since he "ducked" Wills, he would duck Holyfield as well.

What these guys fail to realize is the state of the country and the race boundaries of the time... I find it very hard to believe that Dempsey personally would not fight Wills when it had more to do with racism in America and the politics of boxing, which were even more corrupt with less regulation at that time than today.
