Jack Dempsey would have easily knocked out Greb and if I can recall correctly the reason a fight with Wills never happened is because he was black. Boxing promoters would say that the worst time for boxing was when Jack Johnson was champion and they didn't want another black heavyweight champion because there isn't a nickel to be made.

I think Dempsey would have no problem with either Greb or Wills but to say he ducked them just isn't true. It was a different time.

The next black heavyweight champion after Johnson was Joe Louis. It was not acceptable to be black in America at the time we are talking about and nobody wanted a black heavyweight champion.

Sorry for that, I like I said I got a bit carried away. I really can't split Dempsey/Holyfield with Tunney would be difficult I'd probably favor Holyfield as I can see him imposing his will on the inside, being very proficient there and a stronger fighter.

What happened in sparring means nothing in an actual fight. The fact is Greb was much smaller than Jack Dempsey and didn't hit as hard, and whether he was faster or not remains to be unknown but we do know that Dempsey was extremely fast. Greb lost many fighters not on the level of Dempsey.

holyfield destroys both dempsey and tunney by kayo look and compare resumes and you will see what i mean holyfield is probably the best heavyweight champion of all time

No hes not by any means, I personally rank him higher than Dempsey HW but not higher than Tunney P4P, actually just thinking about it they are pretty close imo.

What these guys fail to realize is the state of the country and the race boundaries of the time... I find it very hard to believe that Dempsey personally would not fight Wills when it had more to do with racism in America and the politics of boxing, which were even more corrupt with less regulation at that time than today.
