They had to stop this fight. Vitalie who is a smart man had to know he had to convince them not to stop the fight and I believe he simply could no longer stop Lewis. Lewis was mildly succesful with the overhand shots, but his uppercuts were brutal.Comment

Cooney would have driven Larry Holmes to the round, but for deciding not to fight Weaver yup... Holmes would not have beat Cooney!
And of course! The Klits were victims of many conspiracies! Inb truth? they actually never lost a fight!
Queenie facts! Worth? Not a nickel... Not a nickel...Comment

Follow up: Indeed watched the fight again and it is just so obvious. That second to the round they stopped the fight, Lewis starts connecting. Vitalie is holding now and his punches are lacking steam. the next round Lewis is uppercutting and catching him hard with powershots. Vitalie is not responding... Even when he does the shots lack the power they initially had.

I have an example I use for my class about this same sort of issue lol. You ask a guy, usually a guy with a family, and who looks like he takes care of himself, "your in a bar and you have a conflict. You can: win the fight but you will die, or, you can let someone degrade you, humiliate yourself, in order to lose the fight and be guaranteed safety, which would you choose?"
Well Jab... of course everyone STARTS saying the same thing. "Oh hey man words don't matter. Walk away! live to fight another day." Then you start describing in detail being humiliated in front of people who see you as strong and able... I don't really have to resort to even prison language before you can see people get uneasy. Now they are starting to think! "Hummm, Im sixty, do I really want my kin to see this? I mean gotta die someday right?"Pretty soon it is evident that the issue is not clear cut...
And then I wait for it: Like Ward waiting on Dawson to drop his guard a litttttttttttle bit down so he could catch him with the hook lol "But Sensei this is not realistic at all! If you win the fight the other guy dies right?" ..... Nope not always... During the war in South East Asia one of the old salts, military guys who taught self protection documented violence and described the following conflicts which were ubiquitous all over the villages in that area of Vietnam: Two guys get into a fight to save face, or over a girl... The narrator tells us... "these fights follow the same end, every guy watching will know what happens... The fight proceeds and eventually one guy gets on top of the other guy pounding him, he is the winner, the guy on the bottom, the loser, fishes out a pocket knife and proceeds to stab repeatedly into the kidneys of "the winner." The winner dies with honor in tact, the loser lives...
I shared that gem with you because it shows how dangerous boxing, or any social sanctioned form of violence can be, when anyone assumes a participant will use judgement regarding the harm versus benefit any decision will have on one's well being. If I took two of those Vietnamese villagers threw a knife out and told them to fight to the death... all things being equal? each guy would have a 50% chance, or, realistically, after an attack, the fight would stop. But... throw in a concept of shame? We know with considerably more certainty what will happen.
Vitalie had no judgement to be trusted regarding his continuence in that fight... He might have literally accepted death as a possibility if it meant a chance to beat Lewis. I don't know that... I do think he was hyped up enough (he hated Lewis) that he was not going to treat Lewis like Byrd lol.
Sorry for the protracted post... But these issues intrigue me and when I see a good example of something we are looking at, the teacher in me gets out of the cage.

Yup its all a conspiracy. No fighter that Queenie likes ever lost a fight, they were all conspired against... Lewis was in on a plot to use his rasta links which are actually made of blades, not hair. and that loose tape!!! Vitalie would have won for sure if there was no loose tape!!
Cooney would have driven Larry Holmes to the round, but for deciding not to fight Weaver yup... Holmes would not have beat Cooney!
