"What is certain though is that Dundee used illegal smelling salts to revive Clay..."

quit lying dude, i can find 50 more articles that show that the smelling salts used were illegal and that they were banned over a decade before in England...under which rules the fight was held and where the fight was held. Find me one thing that says they were legal or banned at some later date, you cant. Ali cheated to beat a LHW. Its cool dude, im sure lots of fighters would have to cheat to beat Henry Cooper.

Mr. Boxing Historian just got himself ownt. Try talking **** and talking down at me, you idolize a cheater, get over it. I assume youre a big Margarito fan too.

Just find me one cite that says he didnt cheat then, one. 1 cite. Get all your chronies to go searching for it. Find me one single cite. In absence of any cite its clear that Ali cheated to beat LHW Henry Cooper.
I don't see any proof that Dundee caused the initial rip to the glove (and there was not a 3 to 5 minute delay as that article claims) or that smelling salts were illegal. If they were fine, but you need to post a link to the British rule of boxing for that year as confirmation. Anyone can just say it.

First of all if you read the article it says, "40 years later a british report stated that it was more like 5 seconds." But you must have skipped that part. So every paper, every study says they were illegal. I just want one cite that says they were legal, they werent, just one report I dont care where from. I dont care if its from the Enquirer or something, one thing. Smelling salts were banned over a decade before Ali arrived in England.

You've been saying all this for over a month but refuse to provide the proof. All you have are opinions in newspaper articles. Supply some hard evidence and I'll be happy to concede you were right. Until than you're just flapping your gums making a claim built on dislike for Ali.

Im not making any claim. Its printed by dozens of papers. So all the writers got together and were like, "we hate Ali...we are going to get him...so rather than say the glove rip cost Cooper valuable seconds lets just say Smelling Salts were banned in England at the time and during the fight...no one is going to call us on this." No one here has cited anything saying they were legal or a later date they were banned. I could go scour through British rule books to find the date, but its clear it was a banned substance. I also believe Liston used substances on his gloves. Should be noted as soon as Ali got his vision back, even though the fight was virtually even on all cards, Liston withdrew.

you are quick to call Liston a `quitter` but in another thread you make excuses for Vitali quitting by saying Vitali told the referee Fhuck it ive had enough, so lost nothing in defeat... who gives a dam about smelling salts Henry Cooper used them against Floyd Patterson & Brian London

Its a fundamental rule change so find the rule change not a poorly researched article from a journalist who seems to do the fillers. You one of those kids who quotes youtube videos as proof that 9/11 was a conspiracy too?

              • Liston would be knocked out even faster then what Ali did to him.
