  • Pacquaio's resume has a lot more meat than Leonard's, which is fairly bare apart from the 4 big wins. Also he's moved up about a billion weights.

If you meant Duran*2 , Hearns and Barkley (controversial)
Then Benitez was undefeated by the time Leonard stopped him and outpointed Duran after that loss , and Benitez is 2 years younger than Leonard so Benitez was not even shot by the time Leonard stopped him , so I guess it counts too.

      • i think if Pacquiao goes and fights Timothy Bradley, Floyd Mayweather, and ShaneMosley. that would cement his legacy. i still don't know if that would make him greater than Sugar Ray Leonard, but he will have nothing to prove after this.

Leonard only agreed to fight Hagler because he knew Hagler was old and faded.. i wont mention Donny LaLonde because its too ****** to talk about, which leaves us with Ray Leonards greatest victories being Hearns (1) when Hearns ran out of gas as he had never fought beyond 10rds in his life and Leonard beating Duran in their 3rd fight which was pathetic... so its very easy for me to call into question the career of Ray Leonard, i could start to randomly select several fighters from that era and make a claim that Leonard avoided them which seems to be the norm on this board of late, just like the clown above who is claiming Pacquiao avoided Guzman & Zahir which is bull****.. i have always been a huge fan of Ray Leonard my posts varify that, i am also a huge fan of Pacquiao because his achievements are phenominal as well as his skills, so putting it into perspective the topic question of "What does Pacquiao have to do to surpass Leonard in terms of greatness" - The answer is - "NOTHING just keep doing what he is doing now, which is being the true champion he is and the flag bearer for this great sport.

Wrong. Hearns went 13 rounds with Randy Shields before the Leonard fight. So don't try that as an excuse. The other stuff you posted is so tainted I don't even want to waste time with it.

Leonard got beat AND beat a lightweight Duran. Hagler is past and uninspired. In between those were bum fights like with Ayub Kalule.

I can't believe how uniformed some people here are. Ayub Kalule a "bum"? I'll tell you what, Kalule was superior to David Diaz. And Duran was far from being a lightweight when he fought Leonard. That's an extremely misleading statement.

My man, it was 1lb and Cotto himself said it wasn't a problem. Why make an issue out of something that is a non issue for Cotto?

No, actually it was 2 pounds. 145 is two pounds less than 147. Cotto "not making an issue out of it" is beside the point. The fact is he has to come in 2 pounds under the limit. And why would Cotto make an issue out of something he agreed to(by force)?
