Ali was a good boxer but he talked alittle to much for my liking.

ever hear that adage if your something you dont need to go around telling people constantly. like you ever have that drunk friend that wants to leave so he keeps telling you hes not drunk when he obliviously is.

ali is that drunk friend telling everybody hes the greatest. in that he usually makes it home or wins regardless of how much of a close call it is for him people start to believe what he says meanwhile hes still that drunk friend riding on luck.

sure he was a great boxer and his competition was good but he knew he was no better at what he did in the ring then demsey was at what he did in the ring or as how good louis was at what he did in the ring.

amongst all the other greats of the past 100 years or so ali wasnt really anything special besides the size of his mouth. i definately have to go with pep on this one.

your entire post was centred around Ali's 'mouth' so i will stick to the topic......Muhammad Ali was the greatest self promoter of all time.....he talked alot of trash cause he knew it sold tickets and raised interest, although a few of his quips might have been to psyche his opponent out also.......

to basically sum up your post, Muhammad Ali was a loudmouth because he knew he wasn't better than Dempsey or Louis....yeah right mate

The only fighter i rank higher than Ali is Ray Robinson and you can make a case for Henry Armstrong too......

i'm sure you've seen this list before, its the International Boxing Research Organization's Top 25 Greatest Fighters of All Time.....

          1. Sugar Ray Robinson
          2. Harry Greb
          3. Henry Armstrong
          4. Muhammad Ali
          5. Joe Louis

          9. Willie Pep
          10. Bob Fitzsimmons
          11. Joe Gans
          12. Ezzard Charles
          13. Ray Leonard
          14. Jimmy Wilde
          15. Eder Jofre
          16. Mickey Walker

22 experts on boxing came to the conclusion that only 3 fighters could have been better than Ali, and you're meaning to tell me 10 fighters are better than him????

i must say i don't agree with this list either but it is as credible and subjective as it gets.....

Whoa, I thought YOU were going to embarrass me? This is somebody else's opinion. I want to know why you think Ali is better than the fighters I listed. You haven't done squat but reprint someone else's list. If you aren't willing to engage me in debate you haven't embarrassed me nor proved a thing. Why do YOU think he's better?

I agree with a lot of that list. I think they put Ginger Bob too high, and don't agree with Duran above Benny Leonard or Dempsey above Tunny. It also seems to be biased towards heavyweights.

What does faster moving heavyweight have to do with p4p? Was there a jr welter with faster hands than Meldrick Taylor? I don't think so. Should we rank him p4p?
