Several decades ago, veteran coach Teddy Atlas worked as an assistant to Hall of Fame trainer Cus D'Amato.
One of Atlas' duties included the training of D'Amato's teenage protégé Mike Tyson, who years later would become the most dominant heavyweight in the world.
Atlas and D'Amato parted ways in 1982, after Atlas had an altercation with a 15-year-old Tyson after Tyson had grabbed the buttocks of an 11-year-old female relative of Atlas. During the altercation, Atlas put a gun to Tyson's ear and told him to never touch his family again or he would kill him.

What about Buddy McGirt ? As a trainer he has worked with multiple world champions, including Arturo Gatti, Antonio Tarver, Hasim Rahman, Paulie Malignaggi, and Sergey Kovalev. McGirt was named Trainer of the Year for 2002 by the Boxing Writers Association of America. He is currently coaching middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly.Bronson66 likes this.

Atlas has character, Tyson does not.
When drag queenie presents a "fact" it means nothing. More often than not it am something he made up for the moment. He has the worst habit of being his own source.Bronson66 likes this.

Rikers is where where Looney Teddy spent his formative years, so this is where he starts from as everyone who followed boxing then knew save French snail eaters.

- - Teddy’s interest in boxing developed in his mid-teens, when he started to work out at the Police Athletic League and fought in organized amateur matches.
At the same time, Atlas was hanging out in the streets and getting into fights. He participated in an armed robbery, was arrested and spent some time on Rikers Island. Childhood friend Kevin Rooney was training with the legendary Cus D’Amato in Catskill and arranged for Atlas to come train with him while awaiting his trial. Atlas lived and trained with D’Amato for a year and won the Adirondack Golden Gloves amateur boxing tournament.
Atlas ran the gym for six years, but eventually parted ways with D’Amato because of a dispute involving Mike Tyson, whom Atlas had been developing in the gym for four years along with his other fighters.
Kaboomsky!!!
