In all honesty, I also think he did beat Trinidad. That was a robbery helped by Oscar getting on his bike in the final rounds.

I was a huge fan of Tito, but the De La Hoya and Hopkins fights definitely diminished his place in my personal HOF.

Hoya was not much of a ducker. His number of fights is a shade too small for ATG status. I rate him as a Great though.

I had never been that keen on Felix, whose weaknesses were put on full display by the mobile Hoya.

I have to rewatch both fights, it's been a long time. As a self-confessed hater, I vividly remember watching Trinidad vs De La Hoya convinced that Tito would do a job on Oscar. At the end I was so disappointed with Trinidad's work that I didn't even rejoice when the judges gave it to him

Oscar lost that fight for himself, and it wasn't a robbery. He has nobody to blame but himself.

That was one of the biggest fights in WW history, and, he lost it.

Tito doesn't get critique for that, in my view.

I see your point. But, at the end of the day, while I agree with you that De La Hoya lost the fight by himself in a way, the scorecards should have been in his favor. Even if he ran like a rabbit in the final third of the fight, he still won the majority of rounds, except for the judges.
