Floyd would also be less likely to get away with his persistent fouling, primarily in the form of excessive holding, elbows and pushing the head down. The fight begins to look different then, with Floyd being forced to fight more on the inside.
Excessive holding how? You referring to those two fights, or as a whole?

Well in regards to Maidana fantasy fight are they both banned from fouls or just one of them? Maidana fouled more than Floyd did in that fight yet Floyd still won.

As for Castillo, they both fouled and both got penalised fairly (one point each) in their first fight. So not seeing a bias there either.

So, not really seeing your points at all there. Thats if we are talking those two fights specifically.

I evidently need to summon up the motivation to watch those fights again. I'll leave it there. I would actually rather concede the point than have a protracted argument about Mayweather.

IronDanHamza - I'm about to embark on a journey through Mayweather - Castillo 1, probably been at least a decade since I last watched it. Will come back to you with my immediate thoughts, wish me luck...

          • Mayweather definitely got more warnings before his point deduction than Castillo did.
          • As with Cortez in the Hatton fight, Drakulich was a little keen to break them up close where it often didn't seem necessary.
          • Roger wasn't keen on Mayweather's switch hitting and he gave Floyd a pretty severe telling off at the end of the 5th, after which he stopped switching.
          • A reminder that watching 12 rounds of Floyd was always a bit of an effort, with my attention waning towards the end.
          • No real issue with the decision.
I'll try to watch Maidana 1 tomorrow evening.

I have watched those fights with Castillo and Maidana more than once. It always seemed to that Mayweather won those close fights, and I am no fan of his. Squeakers, but he won.

Then he really didn't win. He just looked better sparring. When a fighter wins it's obvious; no such thing as winning a 'squeaker' in prize fighting. That only exists in HBO style professional boxing.

Where'd you get the baloney son? I mean I see close fights all the time. So close that people argue for years. Would you seriously call MW/Maidana a sparring match? Maidana refused to let it be.

OK 'sparring' a bad word choice. It was a fight.

Do you believe Maidana deserves the moniker 'loser' of the fight?

Yeah I know. But that ain't prize fighting in my universe, that's HBO Professional Boxing.

Yeah about right. About 100+ years for title fights about 80+ since it became the standard.

I'll take the old NWS decisions meaned, over three appointed judges. It has been crooked as long as there has been judges, so like 100+ years now.

You know, everybody agreeing doesn't make it right. It could just mean everybody chose to do the wrong thing.
