I come here to here to have fun and for no other reason; the ship has long since sailed on being able to have a serious discussion about boxing. That ended back when they turned the forum over to Tunney/Freedom and his white nationalist pals and then brought the neo-NotSees from Ch@steFootball in.
While this forum has degraded into a cesspool of bickering compared to the old days - I think with due discipline we can bring it back to life.

And really, ridiculous bickering was always there: Queenie, under the name "London Ring Rules", was already here when I arrived in 2007....and immediately attacked me and started a multi-year e-beef. I played the game for few years but gave up when thing obviously weren't going to get any better. Btw, NOBODY does more name calling than Queenie.....but he hypocritically gets a pass because he's best buds with the person who singles me out for it.

Both he and Choynski were super middleweights at the time Choynski 57 wins 42 kos

"The fight ended in the third round, as Choynski feinted with his left and hit Johnson on the jaw with his right. Johnson fell into Choynski’s arms and landed on his back on the mat. There is some question as to whether or not Johnson was expecting actual combat and Choynski was notorious for pulling a fast one on unsuspecting opponents. He had once pulled the same trick on Bob Fitzsimmons."

Once against Willard when he was 37. Willard was 6'6" 1/4and weighed 238 1/2lbsand it took him26 rounds to wear Johnson down to the point he could ko him.22 wins 20 kos

Suddenly, the once-invincible Johnson appeared far older than his 37 years.

“Time had done its work,” the Associated Press reported. “It had been the opinion of Johnson and many of his friends that he did not have to be in the best of condition to whip Willard, underrating the latter’s splendid condition and youthful stamina.”

According to a New York Times account, Johnson asked Curley following round 22 to “Tell my wife I’m tiring and I wish you’d see her out.”

The end came shortly before the halfway point of round 26. As the pair maneuvered toward the challenger’s corner, Willard fired a lunging jab followed by a pulverizing right to the jaw. Upon impact, Johnson’s head snapped violently to the side while his hands reached out and tried to take Willard down with him. That effort failed, so his stricken frame slid down Willard’s torso and legs before landing back-first with a thud. As Johnson shaded his eyes from the blinding sun, referee Welsh positioned himself four feet directly behind the champion’s head and tolled the count. Once he reached “10,” he immediately raised Willard’s right arm and walked toward ring center.

After the fight, referee Jack Welch said: "If I had been compelled to give a decision at the end of the twenty-fifth round, it would have been Johnson's by a wide margin. Up to the twentieth round, Willard had one won only one round by a real margin and two or three others by the slightest shade. In the thirteenth and fourteenth, I was almost sure Johnson would knock Willard out, but Willard showed that his jaw and body were too tough. Johnson put up a wonderful fight to the twentieth round, but age stepped in then and defeated him."

        Once when he was 50

BearCat Wright turned the trick when Johnson was 50 years old

Wright was 6'1" and 211lbs.59 wins 42 kos

Johnson held Wright on nearly even terms for four rounds, but in the fifth a solar plexus blow followed by a right uppercut put him down for the full count. (Associated Press)

        Three heavy punchers.

who gives a **** about posters who only wanna fight. It's easy to chase them off. Just don't give them legitimate thought out responses. And to those that wanna talk about boxing, cultivate it by talking back. You know a lot about boxing so start sharing.

              - - Jeff was 22yrs, 5-0-1 when he fought a 29 yr old Choynski to a draw.

JJ was also 22 yrs, 5-1-2 when he got KOed by the 32 yr old Choynski, one of several fighters Jeff had a better record than Johnson who either took losses or looked miserable fighting.

Jeffries had 52 lbs on Choynski,

Both Johnson and Choynski were super middles when they fought.
Jeffries had boxed dozens of exhibitions with Champion Jim Corbett, as his sparring partner ,he was by far the more seasoned of the two

                Spot the difference?

                  - - Yeah, Choynski was still in his prime vs Jeff. He was no longer prime when fighting Johnson in his home environs. He had been recently been KOed by Jack Sharkey, 147 lb Barbados Joe Walcott, and Kid McCoy.

Thanks for the reminder. What would we ever do without you?

Been recently ko'd by Jack Sharkey? Was Joe a time traveller?

Choynski lost to Walcott ,McCoy, and TOM Sharkey over a year earlier.
