In reality this guy is very dumb and I bet he scores way below average IQ level.
Yes of course Tyson is a high school drop out and is basically uneducated. But he found his purpose in life, helped by Cus, and it was to be world heavyweight champion. Which by the way is the hardest title to win in all of sports. It is the richest prize in sports. With a goal and purpose, Tyson applied all of his energies, physical and mental and actually achieved the goal in sensational fashion. He did it by physical and psychological and intellectual supremacy over everyone on the planet. Yes Mike is a genius when it comes to the art of one on one combat. He studied the history of the sport and all the all time legends and took lil bits and pieces from each. Cus was a genius and he created one of his own vision.

He didn't find his purpose in life, somebody else found it for him and lead him to it(and he still managed to make a mess).

If not for Bobby what's his face Tyson would have continued to use those physical gifts to hurt other people for his own gain and up in jail or dead.

He was blessed with physical gifts only a few humans in the world have, on the same level of Michael Jordan at one point in time. One became a billionaire because on top of his physical gifts he had intelligence. The other didn't have the latter so he blew his wealth and became known as a disgrace.

He was and is a dumb guy. I don't care how much you think his skill in boxing made him a genius(they did not) or his ability to quote intellectuals out of context. He's dumb, ******, ignorant etc.

Anybody has a right to be a fan of him but lets not pain a false narrative that he was either a genius or a victim because he was neither.

Precisely. Now they have him a genius. A most absurd proposition.

Certainly not a genius, but his knowledge of boxing history and techniques are fantastic in my opinion. Tyson was privy to fight films most will never see. And if nothing else he absorbed that and is well spoken of i I believe.

You are right about those few things. He had one area where he learned very well. An idiot could not do that. But a person with an IQ of 85 probably could with sufficient inspiration. 85 is just beneath the low end of average. Because Mike at least admired knowledge, as evinced by his parroting of big words, my guesstimate is a spread from about 85-90. I might even go 85-95. In IQ scoring average runs all the way from 90-110. That is a big spread itself. Quite a difference between a high average and a low average intelligence. It is said people whose IQs are 25 points apart cannot meaningfully communicate. One could give the other orders is about it. A person at 110 is likely to think someone with 90 is sort of a halfwit after having lunch with them, or at least remarkably boring.

You're a harsh person. Let me be harsher. (Sometimes) I think people with low IQs don't develop an inner-voice. They don't talk to themselves, and become subservient to outside influences, e.g. religion, politics, media, cults, easily because they are incapable of navigating the nuances of ethics and morality. They are easy to indoctrinate because they need leadership.

I think America today is suffering a bad case of GMS (Great Man Syndrome).

Like Amadeus, Orson Welles, Van Gogh, Tyson is a mad genius. Those three died broke, Tyson actually is super wealthy now again after blowing his fortunes twice. Tyson is a genius, he mastered the sport as a kid, age 20, at just 5-10, supposedly too small for a heavyweight. But he figured out how to overcome his physical disadvantage and conquered the entire sport with power, brains, will and skill. He studied all the champions, the big names to the little unknowns in Asia and took something from them all. If you watch his live performance of Undisputed Truth on Broadway, youll understand the man is a genius. He talks for two hours straight about his life, fascinating, brilliant, hilarious, insightful and so good I know one guy who went seven nights in a row and laughed hard every show. Genius.
