I don’t know if I see him beating a Michael Moorer, though. Let alone an Ezzard Charles or a Michael Spinks.
      - - Now, now, settle down with the record 1-1 for each.

Bivol won the first fight in the opinion of many who watched it, including myself.

Doesn't really matter though because it was a close, either way fight that Beterbeiv won.

Boxing is probably the only sport where the fans claim that everybody from the history is better than everybody from modern era.,

                - - Boxing is the only sport run by sports invested in g am bli ng to fleece their majority anthropoid knuckle dragging fans who are always screaming about scoring and officiating before losing more of their wad so they can scream some more.

Beter won the first in the opinion of many including ME!

He lost the 2nd in a close fight and with nary a scream or tear about losing is scheduling the Trilogy which is as good as it gets in boxing especially since both came up in The Russian Ama program.

Weight classes, the perceived ideals of toughness, and the fact that it has diminished in popularity (at least in the West), make it more of a viable claim than in most other sports. Although baseball fans often make a similar argument, but I think it has to do more with hitting being more of a skill than a direct athletic measurable endeavor.

Heavyweight nostalgia is by far the worst for rose coloured glasses views of the mythical Golden Age when men where men and women were women, the sun always shined and everyone lived in peace and harmony.

Baseball fans are on to something. Boxing is itself a skill, and the fighters from the past typically fought more times and more frequently. Which lends itself to the development of higher levels of skill and mastery.

Focusing just on athleticism can be misleading in both sports when comparing past and present.
