Outside of some flabby heavyweights, a majority of boxers go through some of the most rigorous training to prepare for a fight. When I was training boxers I would get athletes from other sports walking into the gym. Basketball platers, rugby players, wrestlers, hockey players, soccer players, football, etc. All of them said the boxing workout was the most intense. Of those, the soccer players had the best stamina.

Thats interesting. I remember reading a few years back how there was a propensity for soccer coaches to, recruit, sign, and select more fast twitch athletes for their teams. Doing this unintentionally, they just would see that type of athlete and more highly value them. Yet their training regiments were designed more for stamina, and endurance- slow twitch training; they would then get angry when their athletes didn't perform as quickly in competition.

I am no soccer expert, but having a general understanding of how the game is played I find that, and you comment, interesting.

Facts are they went for Boxing $$$, not medals though Wlad won Gold in the Olympics.

Jim Thorpe is the great Decathlete who also won the Pentathlon as well as placed in the top ten of single jumping events. He set the 1500M Decathlon record time that lasted into the 21st Century.

Moreover, he did it not ever participating in some of the events before, a rookie, and....he did it in a mismatched pair of running shoes he picked out the Olympic trash after his track shoes were stolen, prob by one of U ancestors...yeah!!!
Vitali was banned for PED use.
      Thorpe ever achieve this;

Daley Thompson is a former English decathlon athlete who is considered to be the greatest decathlete of all time. A four times world record holder, Thompson won two Olympic gold medals, three Commonwealth titles, two European Championship titles, and a gold medal in World Championship. He also holds the record for being the first athlete to hold the European, Commonwealth, World and Olympics title in a single event simultaneously. He remained an undefeated champion of decathlon for nine years straight, from 1978 to 1987. And if this is any less, you may be surprised to know that his score of 8847 points at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles is a UK record till date. Thompson is one of the only two decathletes who have two Olympic victories in their bag, the other being Bob Mathias. During his glorious career, his rivalry with Jurgen Hingsen gained much public limelight. The duo constantly traded world records, one bettering the other. However, Thompson outdid Hingsen at major events every time. It was a persistent hamstring injury that brought an end to Thompson’s career. Nevertheless, he is still considered as the greatest athlete the country has produced.

Andras Balczo' is the consensus greatest Pentathlete.
JimThorpe was a great athlete with an overall points score of 8412.955 See the film "Man Of Bronze"

Thompson has the World record 8.847points for the Decathlon.

Plus he was a great character.

But he would be cancelled today.

For example at the LA Olympics his T-Shirt (having a dig at Carl Lewis) 'Is the World's Greatest Athlete Gay?' would have the pitiful woke pearl-clutchers fainting in horror!

Perhaps James Jeffries who excelled at track and field, weight lifting and wrestling.

James J. Jeffries was an American professional boxer and World Heavyweight Champion known for his impressive athletic capabilities:

            - - Kyle Rote Jr, son of legendary football star Rote Senior, played Soccer in addition to winning the first ever SuperStars athletic competition in 74 and then later won 2 more. That was the one where they had to save Joe Frazier from drowning in the swimming competion. Joe always in first rate boxing shape was an utter failure as much as Ali would've been in his prime.

SuperStars made efforts to cross match the best pro sports athletes in a sorta of rotating basis as elders retired and new fast guns where making headlines.

I would've loved to run through their gauntlet as I played at numerous sports and feel like I could beat some of the athletes chosen.

Which events did Jeffries win in any competition?
What are his records for weight lifting?
Who did he defeat at wrestling?

Vote goes to Charlie Powell. He came along before the team sports joined boxing as careers you became wealthy doing.

I think it is a toss up. I do not know how anyone can narrow it down to just one. In boxing, I think it comes down to Sugar Ray Leonard, Floyd Mayweather Jr, and Roy Jones Jr. I do not have a problem putting any of those three in the top spot.
