Not at all. But if it's the promoter, could he not use this to his advantage? Bigger rings, smaller rings for the purpose of his fighter? I'm still waiting for clarification from a friend who would certainly know. If I'm wrong so be it, but everything I've read says the state commission or organization sanctioning the card. Again, this could be wrong. We'll see.

Does ring size include apron? If so, how wide is the apron?

No! I always heard it as "fighting area" - but I am not sure how to confirm that.

You're right. Ring size is the area fought in, inside the ropes.

Anthony Joshua made sure a 22-ft ring was used for his rematch with Andy Ruiz.

After getting clobbered in their first fight in an 18-ft ring.

Well someone did ask...since the ropes have to have the same perimeter as the fighting area, there is only an 8 ft. difference in perimeter. That seemingly small difference will account for 84 sq ft of additional fighting space i.e. a gain of about a fifth over the original fighting footage.

If I ruled the boxing world I would make the standard ring size be 18-ft.
