An 18 ft ring would be more entertaining but I am not sure it is more fair.

        Why do you think that?

        1. I argue that there should be enough room for a fighter to disengage and reset himself.

        2. Enough room, that the fighter can maintain that disconnect and still circle his opponent.

Any more room than that results in a fighter being forced to chase down his opponent.

Fighters in large rings, are able to spend too much time not engaging, i.e. fighting.

Great footwork is important but it is only one aspect of the game, and is not the desired result, i.e. fighting is.

We shouldn't adjust the ring size to reward a fighter from disengaging from the fight. We certainly shouldn't enable him.

I like 18' -- it is big enough.
