That has always been my feeling about him. There are some good boxing people that like him I can't see it but that's just me.

        estrada - ioka at 112
        lomachenko - mikey at 135
roman gonzalez - naoya inoue at 115
jiro watanabe - khaosai galaxy at 115
henry armstrong - charley burley at 147

all of these could have easily happened but pro boxing (organization) is just *ss* -*t* -*u* -*p* -*i* -*dd*.

I thought Foreman was viable for the first three rounds. He could hold and bully Tyson around the ring without much problem (for a few rounds).

I was then envisioing the 'Buster Douglas' upercut (the punch Douglas got to land two years later.)

The uppercut Foreman finished Cooney off with would have felled Tyson as well. That was his shot.

But if the rounds went on, and George's willingness to take punishment, it may then have gotten dangerous for Big George.

I want to say Mancini-Camacho and Camacho-Bramble, but I can't blame the scantioning bodies for those two loses. They didn't happen because of the natural order of things.

Braddock-Schmeling (Not a great fight; but he earned the shot, not Louis.)

              Marciano-Liston (Gangster rivalries, literally.)

Marciano-Valdes (Classic SB [IBC/NYSAC] blocking a fight for fear of losing control of the title.)

Repeating myself: It was Foreman-Tyson I really wanted to see.

P.S. Of course there is a long list of color-line fights. But that needs a topic of its own.

P.S.S. One might argue that the 80s was the HW 'decade of avoidness' so we need to thank Mike Tyson for forcing everyone into the ring with him.

Foreman wanted no part of iron mike. I agree with what you said willie. It was a fight that at the time would have had people who never watched boxing fiddling with their remote control to try and pay and get access that night. It would have been some big fight back then I feel.

                  - - Big George explicitly came back to target Mike Tyson who had turned into a thug personality by then.

They signed for an even split of a $22 million purse, a record by then. More importantly, the fight would be in Bejing. They had already gone into training when the Tiananmen Square Massacre that banned travel to China for US citizens...yer welcome...

I fact checked and found you are correct here queeny. At the time before tyson lost to douglas he had this fear factor like no one can even hurt him for 5 seconds in the ring and foreman knocked out cooney just weeks before the douglas loss. foreman cooney jan 1990 and tyson douglas feb 1990.
so all our memories are a bit jaded. After tyson lost other fighters felt he was beatable but before he lost everyone was scared stiff of him. then, of course that opportunist stepped in and grabbed her chance for some big money and we all know the rest.
Oh yeah I just remembered. can i ask you yanks here how much roughly you pay for a ppv fight like joshua vs usek. We pay about £30 but I read that you in america pay around £60. Is that true??? could you let me know. I love those big ppv nights especially heavyweights. I can't wait to see fury win his fight. I know usek has done a bit of serving in his country's war but many men have but Fury has ancestry of fighting men. That ancestral talent and ability is so great he can fight the toughest fight that other men can't. I can't wait for that night in dec. It is the nights when men all arrange where they are going to watch gangs of men get together and go around each others houses. It is great when there is a ppv fight e only get a few each year!

I agree he used to slap kinda but in boxing the judges count landed punches and joe maybe wasn't a knockout supremo but he had this great stamina that was what he was known for and while I don't know his work rate stats (perhaps one of you does?) he looked great and it was a joy to see him like against jeff lacy he really looked good and most american's didn't give him much chance before that fight. I suppose people just admire knockout artists and always will.

                      from google ai
                      • Scoring: The three ringside judges scored the fight 119-105, 119-107, and 119-107, all for Calzaghe.
                      • Blows: Calzaghe landed 351 blows to Lacy's 116.
