Despite the skill difference I don't think it overrides the extreme age gap. I said this in several threads already, when you're nearing 60 your body is no longer capable of taking full-on head shots especially not after taking them for several decades. Holyfield stepped into the ring in his late 50s too and when Vitor as much as made any contact with his head at all, Evander lost his footing and went flying. The only guy I could have seen fighting at that age would have been George Foreman maybe.
If this isn't fixed I see Mike getting badly hurt by the roided up goon.
This really got me thinking and I found this article, ironically about Tyson, from four years ago. I'll be 55 in August and have talked to my trainer (Muay thai and Kickboxing) about getting one more fight before calling it quits from competing. It's amateur and only 3 rounds, but I know I can't take a punch the way I could 30 years ago. 2 years ago I got clipped by a huge right hand counter punch. Did the drunk dance and took an 8 count. I came back and stopped my opponent later that round, but it still bothers me I got rocked like that. When you hear it said to your face that your body doesn't respond like it use to when your older I think your ego kicks in. I know mine does. But to hear it put into perspective the way you did, and to read more about it.....it's got me thinking. Anyway, here's the article.
He's not bankrupt as he was before his corpse was given to Lennox Lewis. He's doing well financially. So, no - he should NOT be doing this, unless it turns out to be a farcical exhibition like that with RJJ. Anyhow, he should stay away from this shìt at his age. Incidentally, yesterday it was reported that he was feeling quite sick on a flight and had to be treated urgently. Is this a prelude to a cancellation of the Jake Paul "fight"?
- - That's why I posted this thread. Supposedly an ulcer acted up, something easily quelled after a doc visit.
That Roy exhibition was quite painful for Roy as Tyson mullered him good without going all out. Remember the l'l floydy exhibition with Logan Paul where he promised to KO Paul inside 4 rounds? Instead Paul battered him around the ring like a punch drunk punch dummy that probably knocked a couple more digits off his double digit IQ.
Potentially Tyson could still KO Jake who has shown a good chin thus far. I have to think this is a private business decision between them as it will make fantastical $$$ and keep each in the queue for further riches as Jake show's boxing how to promote fights the fans want to see that now includes Mike back in the saddle.
I can't believe it will sell enough PPVs to make million(s) for the fighters.
Has Tyson been guranteed millions?
Is there a sponsor who is willing to stage this as a loss-leader? Maybe a Saudi Prince; a corporation; a casino; a Donald Trump? Sponsorship is generally not a very profitable thing, but casino players say that their winnings are quite good. For example, one of them learn how to get good bonuses and just decided to try his luck. However, now this guy drives a cool car and has a rather expensive estate and is just sponsoring such projects.
If Tyson is guaranteed a big payday, it’s likely backed by outside funding—like a casino, a corporate sponsor, or, as you mentioned, someone like a Saudi Prince looking to boost tourism or prestige. These types of fights often rely on spectacle over substance, which can attract deep-pocketed investors willing to take a loss for the exposure or prestige attached to hosting such an event.

Yeah. Like T-rump paid 10 million to Don King to put his name on the poster for the Tyson-Spinks go, and then King let him run around 'playing at being the promoter.'
I wonder if someone at Netflix is cleaning out his desk for this fiasco.

- - Could be all the fights that Rump promoted might be bought out by collector$$$

I'm not sure whst you are saying.
Donald Trump never promoted a prize fight in his live, period. He paid to have his name put on the poster.
Trump tried to promote a Bobby Czyz defense. He couldn't sell the tickets so he gave Czyz the tickets to Czyz and told him he wouldn't pay the gurantee. Bobby had to sell his own tickets. Czyz had to pull out of the fight and go with Arum, who knows how to promote a fight.
Trump has never promoted a prize fight. The Tyson-Spinks fight was promoted by Don King. He just let the fool Trump pay for it. King made the money.
