How long had Margarito been cheating before he was caught before the Mosely fight?

cotto uses this as an excuse to "erase" one of his losses. there is no proof that margo used special wraps for him and his team approved the handwraps margo used in that fight. margo just had cotto's number. the second fight which surely didnt have wraps was competitive in the first half until cotto got to work on margo's eye which was broken by pac. If margo didnt have a broken orbital bone then he would win the rematch as well.

No proof, but plenty of circumstantial evidence. And you can say the wraps were approved, but so were the gloves in the Resto-Collins fight. If Cotto is .aking excuses for the first fight, than are you making excuses for the second? Margs passed all the medical and was sanctioned, it had been just over a year since the Pac fight. And the second fight wasn't that competitive. Cotto was up 8-1 in rounds on all score cards. Can't prove it, and it's in the books as a Margs victory, but I believe he cheated.

The first Cintron fight sounds about right. The thing is, none of us have been in the dressing room for a big fight. But from how it's described, somebody from the opposing team is there to watch you wrap your hands and put the gloves on. This practice has gone on for decades. Margarito would have to be very lucky that every single one of his opponent's trainers for several years running was too ****** to watch him have his hands wrapped. Cotto's trainer/uncle apparently was that ****** from what I've read. I'm not certain, but I think Manny Steward was in Cintron's corner for the Margarito rematch. I can't see Steward being so negligent. But without having been in the dressing room, it's hard to say if there are other ways to cheat the process or not and how exactly each stage is monitored.
It's a shame he was a cheat because his toughness was admirable. Most fighters, even most world champions, don't display that level of will power and toughness. One of those guys who seemed willing to die in the ring but also unkillable, at least until he met Shane.
He's one of the rarer fighters in that he had an incredible chin but still suffered a brutal KO. Floyd had a very good chin, and we saw how much Shane hurt him with that one right hand. Forrest had a good chin and Mosley hurt him with a single right hand to start their rematch. So that right hand was clearly a great shot. Yet Margarito ate those same right hands flush over and over for several rounds. It was similar to Tito-Mayorga, a great chin taking so many shots from a great puncher that he's never the same fighter again.Last edited by Clegg; 04-07-2024, 12:53 PM.JAB5239 likes this.

Keep defending cheaters, it shows your low character. I do a lot more than you sitting in your broken recliner all day getting drunk and pretending you know something you don't.
I'll take a loyal to his fans Marg over U dummyness 7 days a week and twice on Sundays...
