I am not suggesting that the fight took place.

For the record, just after the Century turned Saskatoon began to grow and was, by 1920, a successful city, not based on gold. It was Saskatchewan's largest city.

Its production in both agriculture and mining, with both being well diversified, made it a city filled with wealthy investors, even without there being gold.

So the author did choose a realistic location for such a private fight to occur.

At the time there were not too many places in western Canada worth visiting.

From what I have been able to find about the city's success and considering the commonality of 'men's clubs' in the early 20th Century, it's likely there was a men's club that the locals thought of as a 'millionaire's club.'

Not at all a silly premise.

Most (if not all) successful cities had multiples of such clubs, with frontier cities quick to create such clubs, if just for prestige.

The date Pearson said the fight happened with Johnson ,Dempsey was on the stage in Scranton.Pearson stated as an appendix to the article it was a fictitious matchup, the first of a series of many.No gold strike in Saskastoon that year,no " Millionaires Club"
