I don't remember any public demand for Calzaghe fighting anyone. In what country was that demand? He clearly beat Hopkins - BEFORE Hopkins dominated Pavlik in a one-sided fight. Hopkin was coming off a domination of Tarver and defeated Winky. Not sure how Hopkins was not more valid than some of the people you named like Pavlik or Johnson.

Over-rated if anything. In the UK they act like he’s Sugar Ray Robinson. He basically fought nobody for a decade and then picked off 43 year old Hopkins and a shot 38 year old RJJ.

Kessler was nothing special he had beaten nobody of much worth before the Calzhage fight and then Ward and Froch have both beaten him.

But he retired 46-0 so people think he’s much better than he was. His list of title defences is laughable. Peter Manfredo, Evans Ashira, Kabary Salem, Toker Pudwill, Branko Sobot and various other nobodies.

Plus for years he refused to fly and wouldn’t fight outside the UK or Wales, only to suddenly find his air miles when old BHop and RJJ gave him a payday.

Funny how history is revised in such a short space of time.

Especially in comparison to the Carl Froch fight for example, the demand for Calzaghe-Pavlik was way higher than the demand for Calzaghe-Froch (in 2008).

Calzaghe pulled out of the Lacy fight twice claiming an injured hand.His Father Enzo told Warren there's nothing wrong with it,he just doesnt fancy the fight,talk to him. Warren told Joe you'll beat him easy with one hand he is made for you.
He told him the same thing about Pavlik, but on that occasion he was not successful in convincing him.
Warren wanted Joe to fight Pavlik then finish with the Jones fight.
True or not, Warren claims he tried to make the Calzaghe v Froch fight twice and Froch didn't want it, he also claims Froch did not want the rematch with Groves.
