Don't get me wrong, I do like Nicolas Cage films, in a "he's a terrible actor" kind of way.
Yeah I always felt that way about him... Hard sell, just did not have the gravitas, I liked him in Ghost Rider for some reason.

The academy award is literally the top award you can win as an actor goofy.

That's like saying the mvp of the league isn't good.

Anyone doubting this should watch the sequence in the Capone movie where Capone is swaggering down the stairs of the courthouse, surrounded by followers and reporters. Poor Costner is ridiculous in the scene. He was playing with terrific actors like Deniro and Connery. The man is worth 200-300 million dollars. But that does not mean he can act. I have seen him in a lot of movies I liked, but it wasn't because of him. He doesn't always ruin it. They can't all be ATG's in boxing either. Morgan Freeman and Robert Duval level is rare.
Tom Cruise doesn't have a academy award. So this would have been a better analogy

Damn Winky made me lose a lot of money. I bet a few times against him with Trinidad and Taylor.

I actually quite enjoyed his latest film where he played himself and was mocking himself, I forget the name of it.

From what I hear he doesn’t take himself too seriously.

Yeah but a lot of great actors don’t have Oscar’s.

And a lot of not so great ones do.

It’s politics with that stuff half the time.

                  - - You mean to tell me we have folks posting here who actually watch the Academy Awards? Which presumes they watch current movies every year?

I have not seen it. Yes he is laid back. There is an area in San Francisco where Danny Glover, the late Robin Williams lived and Cage had property there as well... In the Upper haight area. I never saw Cage, but did see Glover and I purchased a pair of shoes on the Haight once and was told "Robin Williams purchased that same shoe style!" Small world.

nah... It is for the masses, for popularity, but actual talent and ability?, well heres an analogy: The HOF: ATG in boxing. The HOF is the more popular institution, but it does not have the nuance or prestige that ATG status has among boxing fans.
