PS: Ocasio was best known as a cruiser weight as he won his WBA title there. He was short for a modern heavyweight and had a short reach. Yet he dropped a close decision to Lewis, past his best. He was for his part slick.

He only fought 1 south paw, a small cruiser weight sized guy named Ossie Ocasio who had a career record or 23-12-1. He took him the distance wining 80-77. It was a reasonably close fight, and that is it. He said he would not fight anymore south paws. He did not fight and tricky skilled orthodox fighters either like say James Toney, or Jonh Ruiz whom he dropped a belt rather than face.

No fights vs. Chris Byrd either or Corrie Sanders either. At they very least there is some smoke here. Perhaps a fire.

Corrie Sanders was a friend of lewis and never had a legit claim to fight him, Didn't Hassim Rahman beat Sanders for the Lewis fight? I don't know if this is correct.

Generally speaking lewis did not duck anyone. He fought who the fans thought he should, which is why he didn't want Ruiz who never had a chance against him.

Well, was he a neutral lefty? Do you know? He was certainly mobile and defensive. The type Lewis avoided. Maybe Lewis fought 0 southpaws than by design.

I know in the old days left handed fighters often had to convert to orthodox to get fights. But I can't help but think it severely limited guys like Frazier and ****ey. I've always wondered how good these guys might have been had they fought from their natural southpaw stance.

Bottom line is, I think its a lot easier to train your weaker hand to throw hooks and jabs then it is to train it to throw from the back. Very few fighters in history could throw their weak hand effectively from the back. Converting gives you a great left hook but if the other fighter can avoid it you are in trouble without a backhand power shot
