  • Holyfield vs Tillis (202 lbs)

holyfield went from 202-210 and beat all the best heavyweights of the 90s.

And he was blown up, Holyfield is natural cruiser. Even at 202 his arms look over muscled.

if he was capable of doing this, and getting robbed at 50 beating valuev who was 7 ft 2 or something….

why are these new “body builders” too good for:

    204 lb Holmes
    205 lb Louis
    205 lb Frazier
    205 lb Holyfield
    210 lb Ali
    190 lb Dempsey
188 lb Marciano (or 192 his debut, which was considerably heavier than Holyfields debut weight).

also curious how Spinks beat Cooney and Holmes weighing 200 lbs, or How Michael Moorer moved up and beat Holyfield from lhw. How did this even happen?

why is the 212 lb wild swinging wilder too much? Maybe because the video quality is better and most people don’t know what they are watching?

obviously this entire post is sarcastic, but I hope this resonates with the deluded size kings.

Whether you think Holy juiced or not, he was a helluva fighter. PED's can't give you heart or a chin, and Evander had both in spades he also had great timing. The size thing always bothers me. Sure it plays a part, but if you have a smaller man with more will to win and better skills than why is it such a surprise when they win? History has given us plenty of examples, and that's why most of those undersized underdogs are in the HOF but in many cases considered great.

        - - Valuev stood ring center waiting on Godot to wheel the unlicensed Field cadaver in place to pose.

King paid Field $75k for the farce.

I was using holyfield as an example of a 202-205 lb heavyweight who beat the majority of larger heavyweights.

many people don’t think heavyweights weighing 205 can win vs 240 lb tub of lard, or a dude who lifts weights. Holyfield proves this wrong as he is a contemporary fighter

                - - You as laughable as Field was in that fight. Unlicensed fighter, broke, bilked out multimillions, DKing fighter, circling the boxing drain while blithering about unifying the belts.

It's no wonder youtube boxers are taking over boxing by doubling the IQ ratings over lowbrow boxing these days.

Queen B the conclusion is inescapable: You do not actually watch fights, hence your ridiculous assertions. why not sit down and watch a few of these fights and fighters you speak of?

Alternatively why not just FO and watch wrestling. because he obviously knows Jack **** about boxing"

The fight was horrible, one of the worst heavyweight title fights in history with less contact than an episode of "Dancing With the Stars." 3. The decision was so atrocious and so scandalous that it made Holyfield's gift draw in his first with Lennox Lewis look like a competent ruling. Judges Pierluigi Poppi (the 116-112 joke) and Mikael Hook (the 115-114 disaster) rendered ghastly scorecards. Judge Guillermo Perez Pineda's 114-114 draw was merely disgusting. For the record, ESPN.com, watching the fight on pay-per-view, scored it 117-112 for Holyfield.

Holyfield, who was the fan favorite of the 12,500 in the sold-out crowd, was bidding to become the oldest heavyweight titleholder in history. He also was bidding for a record fifth title reign. But he was ripped off. Badly. Although few gave him any serious chance to win, he deserved to make history in his 25th year as a professional, eight years removed from the last time he held a title.

Holyfield deserved the victory not because he fought well. He didn't. All he did was bounce around, move from side to side and stay about 10 feet from Valuev all night while coming forward a couple of times per round to land a combination. But given that Valuev, who looked like a statue, fought as if he was in a coma all night long, what little Holyfield was doing should have been enough for a landslide points victory.

Valuev barely threw any punches at all. He threw so few that it looked as if he was purposely trying not to hit Holyfield for fear of hurting the old man. Where was the excellent jab he possesses? Never once was there a sense of urgency nor the notion that he should try to do anything other than plod around and follow Holyfield. And remember: Russia's Valuev, 35, is 7 feet and 310 pounds, a mountain of a man. Holyfield is barely 6-foot-2 and weighs 214 pounds. It was a physical mismatch, but Valuev never did one thing to use his advantages. Frankly, you can make more of a legitimate argument that Holyfield won all 12 rounds than you can make one that Valuev claimed at least seven to take the fight. Holyfield, obviously disappointed, summed up the fight well in his postfight interview: "I thought I hit him more times than he hit me."

Broadcaster Nick Charles, handling the blow-by-blow for the U.S. pay-per-view, summed it up even better: "I am shocked, dazed and amazed. That is the worst display of officiating I have ever seen."
