Not that there anything to call foul, just the flow of the exchange along with Walcott's akward positioning on the ropes and his slow descent.

IMO Most fighters in that situation throw at least one more punch. SRL would have let loose with a flurry just to make sure it was stopped.
Look at Ray Mercer. Without the referee would he have ever stopped? Look at Emile Griffith.

Rocky blew Joe a kiss. A love tap.

The most obvious let up on a hurt opponent I ever saw was Ali going easy on Foreman in Zaire. He could have hit him at least one more time on the way down. That was mid ring not on the ropes though.

      - - Ali got a gift from Clayton who was an old man worn out from having to break up his clinches.

Foreman was up at the 9 sec mark with 1 second left in the round.

What grade was you in then?

I have to agree that Foreman beat the count. He could never have won the fight at that point unless someone from the crowd shot Ali, but he surely did beat that count.

****ell on the other hand definitely was down when Marciano hit him.

          great video.

In that new book out on Rocky they make it pretty apparent that Rocky was a fighter on the dirtier side and “would do whatever it took to win” so to speak. One “accidental” hook from Marciano might last the whole fight. Thats why dirty fighting is kinda smart in the prizefighting game.

one “accidental” kidney shot, ball shot, rabbit punch. Also psychologically changes the fight. A puncher who purposely rabbit punches like Marciano, Duran or Foreman is telling his opponent he doesn’t care if he injures or kills him.

you also have to remember the media back then everyone had a tv face cause tv was still sort of new. It wasn’t popular to mouth off, you always acted professionally.
