I like this section, but it's always going to be a bit niche as boxing history is something that many current fans not only have no knowledge of, outside of knowing who Ali, etc, is, but no interest in, and just want to see the current guys. I mean, Mayweather is old news to a lot of modern fans, never mind going back to the early years of pro boxing. But this section has its place and a section of people are of course still interested in debating boxing's past and keeping it alive, but most newer fans aren't going to engage, they don't have the knowledge, willingness to learn, or the interest.
For people who started following boxing, let's say from 2010 onward, they have far more choices of what to do with their time than older fans. Every sport is on around the clock, easy access to modern movies and shows 24/7 on Netflix and the like, cinematic computer games, YouTube videos, etc, etc, so people are often more casual fans of sports than they used to be, rather than hardcore. Different eras, and different times, breed different kinds of people.
I've always been interested in the history of everything I follow, be it boxing, football (soccer), and movies from the olden days, but the modern-day mindset of most is all about the here and now, and the low attention spans that come with how the world has become, has made really learning, really becoming a specialist at something a lot harder. A billion pages back and forth have to happen because posters like you can't admit something so undoubtedly factual as Jack Johnson agreeing to box Joe Jeannette for the World Championship in 1912.... simply because you dislike Johnson.
You come to this section and blatantly tell lies about boxing greats for your own personal agenda. And when you are definitively proven wrong, you dismiss the clear evidence and continue with the same lies in newly made threads. And you have the nerve to talk about attrition posters with agendas jockeying for the last word???? Unbelievable.Last edited by travestyny; 06-28-2023, 04:10 PM.

I used to be part of a group that talked boxing on Facebook about older fights and stuff, but as the years went by a lot of the members died due to age or disease.
