            I spoke with Tony about that fight, and though it was a great night in his life, he felt sickened that the ref let it go like that when Saxton was clearly out on his feet. Tony was the nicest guy you could ever meet.

            This one always comes to mind. Criminal.

              I remember watching the Prince Charles Williams v Merqui Sosa I, and the ref (Lipton) stopped it in the 7th round and declared both fighters had taken too much punishment and the fight ended in a draw. Never saw that before or since.

              Wepner took the worst beating of his life v Liston. Wepner received 120 stitches, and it took the doctor four hours to put his face back together. I think his cheekbone was broken also.

                    andries kept going being beaten from pillar to post for a good number of rounds. not the worst but i recall watching it with a big bottle of cola as a kid.
