Didn't mind him calling Hector a circus but the latter remark was more than pretentious it was rude and deliberately hurtful.

Dows anyone know what set Tyson off that he eventually wouldn't allow Merchant to interview him post fight?
Every time I think of Tyson I think of the Jim Gray interview, where Jim kept cutting in to advise Mike that he had a booger hanging out of his nose.

      - - Everytime I think of Gray I think of MLB 100 greatest players game celebration where he interviews Pete Rose and immediately drills him with ******** on baseball not understanding the function of the promotion.

A bore and an idiot to boot not to mention IBHOF for doing next to nothing for boxing.

I like the one where Merchant said Whitaker was quick and elusive enough to avoid an oncoming truck and pop out all the lights but said that night about a past prime Pernell "but tonight the truck won." Don't remember the opponent but it was well said. I think also after a Hagler fight he mentioned the anniversary of his parents and how they loved going to the fights together in their younger days.

Larry Mechant, like Cossell before him was a great on-air presence who had up and down moments. At least Merchant was a boxing scribe and a sport insider, but I'd say that both were net positive contributors to Boxing. Jim Gray was without a doubt a " bore and an idiot", and a flinching feme to boot. A real fish out of water in boxing. Miscast. As far as the IBHOF goes? Not sure what you're hoping to communicate there, and few of us ever do; but if it's that "IBHOF (is) doing next to nothing for boxing", that's like saying "the Prophet Muhammad is doing next to nothing for Islam". More or less.

              - - Lot of ironic forecasting there given a truck ran over and killed Pea in ******ia Beach.

They boycotted him for a game or two over that
