      Hard to say!

We don't really know, what Broughton's complete record looks like... but I don't believe, there are any reports of him losing from the start of his bareknuckle career in 1725 up until 1746! This is a span of 22 years - but there is no mention of any fights in 1742 (temporary retirement) or 43. Also his sole fight listed for 1733 is an exhibition with James Figg.

And then there are 7 years (1726-32), where we don't really know how often he fough - other than he "defeated a number of opponents" during this period.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, and pretending he fought each year during the periods, where we lack full information - I think the most we can credit him with (including a 1767 win against an unknown opponent) is a guesstimated 20 undefeated years. Which may, or may not, be too generous... very difficult to say, really!

        Jack Johnson has 20 undefeated years. 97, 98, 00, 02, 03, 04, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, 19, 20, 23 and 24.

If we believe in boxrec (and I didn't miss any losses).

So that would tie him with Floyd.

You're right... a much longer career than Floyd, but with so many losses/missed years scattered over his record, that they both end up with 20 undefeated years.

Is it to early for you give a little help? Maybe tell how many years we are talking about and/or if the boxer in question was a world champion.

Our man is a world champion, everybody here has heard of - who was undefeated in 22 of the 28 years where he was active.

I guess it has to be Archie.

Yeah, one would think, that Archie is a prime candidate for a question like this! And while he was active in 29 different calendar years - he had so many losses spread over his long career, that he (hard to believe!) went undefeated in only 13 of them.

                    Is it Julio Cesar Chavez?

                    Or Roberto Duran?

                      No... neither of the two.

Chavez is fairly high on the list, though - with 19 undefeated years out of 25.

Duran was active in 32 (more than any other world champion!) different calendar years - but with so many losses, that he was undefeated in only 17 of them.
