This is a span of 22 years - but there is no mention of any fights in 1742 (temporary retirement) or 43. Also his sole fight listed for 1733 is an exhibition with James Figg.
And then there are 7 years (1726-32), where we don't really know how often he fough - other than he "defeated a number of opponents" during this period.
Giving him the benefit of the doubt, and pretending he fought each year during the periods, where we lack full information - I think the most we can credit him with (including a 1767 win against an unknown opponent) is a guesstimated 20 undefeated years. Which may, or may not, be too generous... very difficult to say, really!

Jack Johnson has 20 undefeated years. 97, 98, 00, 02, 03, 04, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, 19, 20, 23 and 24.
If we believe in boxrec (and I didn't miss any losses).
So that would tie him with Floyd.

Chavez is fairly high on the list, though - with 19 undefeated years out of 25.
Duran was active in 32 (more than any other world champion!) different calendar years - but with so many losses, that he was undefeated in only 17 of them. The D3vil likes this.
