Had there never been a Marvin Hagler, who would have been the preeminent middleweight of that era? Antuofermo? Hamsho? Minter? Sisson? Would one man dominate the way Hagler did, or would they just be passing the title around?

I think the titles are passed around between the top contenders, no one stands out as the dominating force among them.

Didn't we just talk about this?
Yea Hamsho for three or four years would be the longest title holder - with, as Ghost suggests, several title holders during the period.
But Hamsho the best of the bunch; should have a tenure with at least a few suggestful defenses.
P.S. Who do you think the next dominate mw champion would have been?Last edited by Willie Pep 229; 10-08-2022, 05:18 PM.

Been thinking about it and don't remember who I had back then. My guess is I probably would have leaned on Hearns. I know for a fact I didn't pick Barkley to beat him a few years later.
Would a 'no 'Hager' universe kept Leonard from quitting; moving up to MW two or three years sooner?
Leonard - Hearns for the MW title?

Some pre-championship days implications if no Hagler too!! Seals, Watts, Briscoe, Monroe, Colbert. Hmmm. All might have been able to build on their work better if battles against Mavin had not been endured. I digress.

Briscoe was past his sell by date.Minter dominated Antuofermo, Sibson caught Minter at the right time.
