We need a complete citation for the other quote by Bohun Lynch all I can find are secondary sources using the same quote without citations.

The above looks like a newspaper article but I don't know of any paper called the Sunday Times . . . That is usually just a street term for the Sunday edition of the NY Times.

The New York Times Sunday edition, July 10th 1910 covers three topics:

1. An attempt to present a reenactment of the fight that the theater owner stopped presentation of before the crowd could riot.

2. An offer from Johnson for a rematch conditioned on a guarantee of $100,000.

3. Denial by Jeffries that he lost because he was doped.

It seems someone claimed that Jeffries had 'dope rubbed into his skin' by one of his seconds. LOL

God has there ever been a single championship prize fight where we didn't have accusations of loaded gloves, doped fighters, or crooked referees/judges?

The Sunday Times is the premier English newspaper it has been in circulation since 1822 and sent correspondents to such historical landmarks as the Crimean War.

Bohun Lynch wrote articles for it, and was the boxing correspondent for Field & Sport .Lynch wrote several books and I have just ordered his book Knuckles and Gloves from Amazon.

Jeffries claimed he drank drugged tea, and allowed his name to be used in accusations that cast doubt on the authenticity of his defeat to Johnson in a biography.
Fitzsimmons similarly claimed he was drugged in the first Jeffries fight, as did Foreman after Zaire.

Jeffries had not fought in six years and was old. No one in boxing history took that much time off and came back at 35... Bob Fitzsimmons who sat ringside said Jeffries wasn't a quarter if the fighter he fought. That's who washed up he was. That is who Johnson beat. When Johnson fought men in their prime or slightly past it, he lost...a lot in his prime.
