It seems as if cherry picking is a relatively new phenomenon since its only modern fighters mentioned. I'm sure there's fighters from older generations as well. What about Jack Dempsey? Other threads suggests a couple of names missing.....


Oh well. My candidates would be Roy Jones, Joe Calzaghe, Andre Ward and Sven Ottke. The last 3 were homeboys par excellence despite most of their relevant competition being in other countries. The glaring miss on the Joe and Sven is that they fought at the same time, notched up 20+ defenses and managed to avoid each other. Lol.

- - Roy his own man after ditching Sr, Joe under the onerous Warren with his DKing operational style, and Sven under equally onerous Sauerland just getting started.

Only guy Roy ducked was Dariusz at the end of their careers. As soon as Joe ran out his Warren contract, he jumped the pond to humiliate 1 & 5 in rare form where he made most of his career earnings.

Sven only fought for 7 years, so who really cares?

- - Clearly l'l floydy who specialized in TBA fights where he pitted as many as a half dozen boxers with the promise of a fight and 5% of his purse such that they would start training camps only to see them jerked around in the press with others fighters he promised, so now most were gonna be out expenses unless they got another decent fight lined up to pay their training expenses.

Then he holds a poll on his own website to let his fans pick his next fight between Maidana and Khan. Khan won, so what does l'l floydy do?

What he does best, jerking around his fans and Khan by choosing Maidana.

Then he dictates the terms of drugtesting such that it is tailored to his schedule while being allowed TUEs to cover up his drug use.

Then all the times he pulled out of Big Fights leaving the promoter and opponent needing to get an emergency replacement. In short, there has never been such a useless sociopath in the history of boxing which is the whole reason boxing is such a marginal sport these days because it was the corruption of boxing that allowed all that to happen.
