Jones was a ducker. I have always said it. A fighter does not miss that many top opponents by accident. You just admitted that it was Jones who would not fight them. Isn't it strange that a man considered the best of his time in his prime, if not the best ever, can't even make the top ten light heavyweights anymore? That is not because he was KO'd a few times while he was old, but because he was a ducker in his prime. People finally realized just how weak his ledger was, by buggery. He fought Toney and Hopkins right at the beginning, and that was it for Roid.

I don’t recall Benn, Eubank or Dariusz being in a big hurry to make the fight in the U.S. Jones beat Reggie Johnson, who beat Steve Collins…Collins beat both Benn and Eubank 2x each. Jones’ win over Virgil Hill was far more impressive than Dariusz’ win over Hill.

Jones was known for his safety first approach to boxing, both in his style and choice of opponents. But just as much blame needs to go to the fighters who didn’t fight him for one reason or other.
