  • Even if you all don’t give Rocky a fighting chance….

Find a more brutal knockout than his over Walcott. It’s the most brutal knockout of ALL TIME. Does anyone know if Walcott even get’s up on tape, the clips I see he’s been rolled over and he’s absolutely snoozing. Ive never seen a knockout like that, not even from Jackson, although he came close.

just thought I would shed light on this. The fighter everyone deems overrated who stands no chance against anyone (they said the same thing about him in the 50s as well) can turn someones lights out that badly has to account for something. Even if hes a lightheavy (which he’s not) whens the last time you ever saw a light heavy do that?? Whens the last time you say a cruiserweight do that? Or anyone for that matter

also, heres some great restored footage of Marciano. (Colour) watch from 9:14 on wards for some brutal Rocky assault. Notice how explosive and heavy his shots are?

edit: another really brutal knockout is Foreman vs Roman

Roman took permanent damage in that fight, the way his body was acting while he was on the canvas. It was a fight that Foreman said he wanted to kill someone to prove to the press who kept talking bad about him. He went in with no respect just loading up

So Rocky's ko of Walcott is now suddenly the most brutal of ALL TIME? Yes, it was a devastating one, but surely there have been many just as brutal. Foster-Quarry, Patterson-Johansson, Jackson-Graham, just to name a few.

The most damaging type of KO must be the prolonged stoppage on the ropes such as Morrison took against Mercer, and Paret took against Griffith. The KOs mentioned already were merely more picturesque, abrupt and dramatic. Most brutal to me means most damaging. Although one can be permanently injured by clean knockouts indeed, logic says injury would come more often by KO along the ropes or in corners where the man is partially prevented from falling and therefore takes some additional shots he would not have taken otherwise, prolonging his KO. However it occurs, a prolonged KO ought to be the most brutal on average, is my conjecture and bet.

Another one that falls in this category, would be Ingo's slaughter of Machen - thanks to one of the worst ref jobs I've ever seen!

Thirty eight years old men [possibly more.] don't generally have the punch resistance of younger men.Louis commented on this when he compared his two ko losses to Schmeling and Marciano. The Walcott ko is a great one but, as often the case with Rocky Fan Boys its being overhyped here. As has been said ,its usually the sustained beatings that are career ending, and Marciano was not generally a one punch ko guy, but in this case Walcott 's advanced age meant he was nearing the end of the trail, and his dire performance in the rematch confirmed it.

Great knockout for sure....but I've always been partial to Ruddocks knockout of Dokes. It's just a matter of opinion.

I thought the Patterson/Johannson KO was worse. Johannson's foot twitching while he's stretched out cold on the canvas. Brutal left hook from Patterson, Ingemar's body had gone limp before he even hit the canvas.

Great post! Was Marciano too short, kinda light, too short armed, somewhat prone to getting busted up? Yup.
is he remembered with great sentiment, sometimes credited with an invincibility beyond the merits of his exploits?
                    Sure.
But he is an unassailable great in spite of those things, not disqualified as great because of them.
Bending over backwards to challenge his accomplishments??? Silly poser errand.
Great, great legend. The personification of hard work overcoming one's limitations.
