  • Did Mike Tyson duck Lennox Lewis and George Foreman 1989-1992 ?

I keep hearing this narrative , "Tyson ducked Lennox and Foreman"

    what I want to know is;

    1. Is this true?

    2. Did he duck before incarceration , aka "Prime Tyson years" ?

    - - Ever hear of boxrec?

Lewie a debutante in 1989 after his diapered extended Olympic career wasn't ranked when mike fell afoul of the Law.

Mike and Foreman signed for a record setting $20 mil purse in Peking in 1989 that was cancelled due to the Tiananmen Square Massacre.

The fight was proposed but never signed. After that it was he said/she said about why the fight wasn't made.

Personally I think it would have been a circus act. Tyson would have killed Foreman at that point. When Tyson got out of jail would have been George's best bet at a win. A prime Foreman though takes him in 8. Jmo.

I believe Tyson did an actual interview not long that he didn't want to fight Foreman

            - - Papers were being drawn up when tragic events canceled the fight. Quoting events out of context makes a hash of whatever your point was.

Personally, you ain't never been qualified to think before acting much less in a circus. When Mike was released, it was well documented in no way he wanted Foreman, a clear indication of the indoctrination of Cus who stressed the incredible ring tangibles of Big George.

Notice Cus never talked about Lar in the same way, probably never even bother to show Mike one of his fights...just sayin'...

Those tragic events happened on June 4 1989, this article and any other you can try and find are dated either June 1st or 2nd. So no, the fight was not signed as you falsely claimed. There was a letter of intent by the Chinese government, that's it. That is a far cry from the fight being signed. It was also dependent on Tyson bearing Biggs.
So please tell me where you came up with "Mike and Foreman signed for a record setting $20 mil purse in Peking in 1989"?

                - - Forgive me for throwing pearls before swine, but U dummy didn't even know about this fight until I informed U dummy.

The Chinese Wanted George. Tyson was just a useful tool as champ. Only negotiation was purse split that was pretty much even, and ring conditions, gloves, ect.

Cayton couldn't dictate squat since King had take over Tyson, but this feller Wheeler who had Chinese contacts had never promoted a fight or been part of the fight biz. After Tiananmen He pledged to beat the bushes to raise the money in the US that had fallen into major disrepair relative to the fight biz. Tyson had to get through Buster that he blew, and then Buster almost got the Foreman fight save he had no power to fight off King who controlled Vander and Buster.

                Do U even follow boxing?

You said the fight was signed for a record 20 million purse. That in fact is and was not true. You can troll all you like, but you can't hide your idiocy when you try to sound like you know more than you do. I'd ask for a link to this claim, be we all know you would avoid that like the plague.

I follow boxing enough to know this fight was never signed. And that is a FACT!!

                    - - Yeah, should've been 25 mil, so is that the best U can do?

Your links were post Tiananmen when the fight was no longer viable, but promoters were trying anyway.

Camps had a Gentlemen's agreement, a legal contract in a court of law if proven. They were drawing up the paper contract when fight was canceled.

National Sporting Club of England had a Gentleman's agreement with JJohnson that he broke. The agreement was only legal within the English territorial sphere. Once he fled to the the US, it was no more than a defunct agreement.

Count thee how many x U was born yesterday today.
