Once I published a story and a list containing about 75 "Celebrity Boxers" that featued everyone from Edwin Hubble to Bob Hope. A bunch of Boxers in the movies embedded there.
    A couple of classics:
Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962) starring Anthony Quinn, Jackie Gleason and Mickey Rooney featured a barroom full of pugs including Jack Dempsey, Cassius Clay, Willie Pep, Barney Ross, Steve Belloise, Gus Lesnevich, Paoli Rossi, Rory Calhoun, Abe Simon & Alex Miteff.
On the Waterfront (1954) starring Marlon Brando, Rod Steiger, Lee J. Cobb & Karl Malden also featured performances by real fighters Tami Maurielo (Frank Sinatra's buddy), "Two Ton" Tony Galento, "Skysc****r" Abe Simon and Joe Rollino, the famous war hero and strongman who fought under the name "Kid Dundee" and who died at age 104 when he was struck by a car.

Hey I m surprised Micky Rooney never played a boxer - He did sort of play and old pug (trainer in Requiem) I could seem him carrying the role when young.

Do you know if he was ever in one? He did make a roller derby film once called something like Fireball, something like that. Lol

          - - Lee Canalito, "Rocky's" superheavy project retired early undefeated as a puncher went into movies along with building his celebrity gym in Houston.

Few years back challenged Big George to a celebrity exhibition to raise $$$ for a youth program, but no dice.

I think he did, twice. Killer McCoy in 1947 and Off Limits in 1952.

I hadn't known Bobby Ryan was an ex boxer. He sure seemed tough. Usually a bad guy, but not always.
