I was really rooting for Wilder to win. Despite his technique issues, I have always been a fan of his style. I used to think that Wilder would stop Larry Holmes.

Wilder is a dangerous against any opponent regardless of his skill issues and Furys size and skill for a fighter that size provided a unique puzzle that Wilder could not punch his way out of or solve. Smaller men are not going to be able to lean on and tire Wilder like Fury did and many Hws are not as slick as Fury or have the recuperation abilities he possesses. Wilder has a chance against any HW from any era. His power, heart, length, and height make him a monster in any era. None of that has changed. Fury would also be trouble in any era.DeeMoney likes this.

Redrum nailed it, his length and power make him a threat against anyone ever. Not writing I'd favor him against them all, just he is a threat. Problem is he doesnt have that height and reach against Fury, and (up until this last fight) he never learned how to fight as the shorter man.
Dunno if I'd favor him against Holmes, but Wilder would at the least make for a fun fight against anyone in heavyweight history.

Wilder has yet to learn how to fight. I’ve said this for years and it rang true again last night. He started well going to the body but his efforts were short lived and amateurish. Soon he was just winging right hands from right field. As typical. After 3-4 rounds his legs were unsteady. All that weightlifting to build his upper body did nothing for his leg strength or endurance.
To mention this exciting but low skilled bout to Ali Frazier which some have done is a disgrace. Neither fighter possesses 10% of Ali or Frazier’s skill. The Old LefHook

Wilder is a dangerous prospect for anyone just based on his power however I wouldn't fancy his chances against high intensity fighters like Tyson, Foreman. I think he could have certainly gave Wlad a run for his money, his style would be a nightmare.
That said Wilder really cannot box, his technique is horrible and wild.Last edited by Mash121; 10-11-2021, 12:18 AM.uncle ben likes this.

Putting on a load of extra weight at 36 years old was a bad idea for Wilder.
He was going on about how he was benching 350 and was gonna be able to match fury in the clinch and I said that he could weigh 250 and bench 400 and that will still not happen, Fury is a giant and has so much more functional strength, and has the height to be able to get on top of Wilder in the clinch and put all of that 277lbs on him. Wilder was collapsing to the floor in the clinch after a few rounds, the muscle didn't help at all.
Wilder was at his best at 220lbs or less, when he was a mobile bundle of energy, he did his best work vs Fury in the first fight where he was light and agile and harder to pin down, he should have stuck with that. Fury should have been having to chase him and Wilder should have had the quicker feet. He's a dumb guy though.Last edited by Earl-Hickey; 10-11-2021, 03:41 AM.The Old LefHook

Prime Lar and Deyonce could never fight each other because they'd be too busy ducking each other...only in boxing, folks!
