Last time I heard him spoke, he was in a good mood, but also concerned about

    suffering of memory loss.

If not the best fight, so the biggest event in the 1980s.

Thanks for the link that's a good one

When Mark Gastineau's people approached Foteman II for a fight he told them to build a record and he would give Gastineau a fight. This, some people believe, was the motivation for all the fixed/set-up fights they put Gastineau in, believeing that the bullslit fights didn't matter so long as they had a string of wins, becuse they believed they had a Foreman fight locked in.

It must be a White thing!

Gastineau it turned out was so bad he couldn't win the easy ones.

        - -Died out with JJohnson.

Very few of the media, ie none that I know used GWHope to describe white challengers to Joe Louis and subsequent black champions that followed.

Dking was, is, and forever will be just a horrible sociopath with insight on how to manipulate young, hungry black fighters to ultimately leave them broke. Holmes being a family man wasn't interested in his little perks, and Tex Cobb seem to be the few to escape his ruin enterprise. Russell Peltz talks of the way Butch Lewis did it to a lesser extent.

If it died out with JJ how do you explain. . .

the whole Reagan phone call thing . . .

that Cooney got a parity purse with the champion . . .

that it was Holmes' biggest draw?

Ironically by the time we got a white champion he turned out to be a commie who appeared just as the fight game was in it's death throes and he damn near finished it off with his boring style.

The UFC should give the Brothers Klitschko a small percentage of every gate considering how many of the new generation they drove into UFC arenas looking for action.

White men can't jump . . . Americans today expect their great athletes to be Black or foreign. No one today is much interested in 'white' . . . two boring commie brothers and a Brit that had a mental collapse, (who still doesn't look like he's wrapped too tight) later, has left us with little white hope.

But Cooney was all 'white hope.' I don't know where you were living at the time but that fight was all about being white.

            - -Cooney with his invincible style convinced Ronnie to install a whitehouse link.

The only black/white conflict I saw was with King. It was Lar who kicked off an aborted brawl when Howie attempted to promote a fight between the two. More to Lar being an A-list hole than black vs white, but maybe you could be right if you could prove Lar was racist.

            Well?

The mick's lefhook did not look devastating, but it was. It looked gentle. But Holmes barely made it back to his corner after the punch he refers to in the interview.

The mick's a good name for him. Better than The Coon, which was the name of Cartman's raccoon superhero character on South Park.

Did he actually have a nickname?

Isn't 'mick' a derogatory term that will get you punched in the face in an Irish bar?
