A lot of the great left hooks mentioned already but for me Smokin Joe has to be no1. He through the hook relentlessly with such power and bad intentions, as previously mentioned here, almost exclusively and became champ in an era of great heavyweight fighters. Absolutely threshing machine of a punch.
Arguably the most devastating single left hook ko was Julian Jackson v Herol Graham. Canelo has an mighty hook too in the current crop.

Agreed. But Don King would be the biggest hooker in boxing. That whore would do anything and anyone for that matter, for money.

I recall the tale of him taking Tim Witherspoon to the cleaners when he fought Bruno. Tim was on a bus to the stadium when he saw a stretch limo pull up with Don and entourage on its way to the fight! I hear he cleared something like 50 grand from a million after King had taken his slice, charging him itemised training camp bill, 20k for a coke! Only in America, baby.

Aside from names already discussed, Cotto, Foster and Arguello get honorable mentions.

Ray Leonard or Frazier although Duran and Arguello had phenomenal technique with every punch.

I was going to mention Roy Jones Jr. at first, especially when you consider that one of his nicknames was Captain Hook. Was also gonna bring up Joe Frazier again. This time though, I wanna bring attention to Iran Barkley. Specifically the double left hook he landed on Roberto Duran and the other left hook that sent Duran spinning in the next round. Those were some of the best punches of what’s one of the greatest fights I have ever seen.

Gerry Cooney possessed a rib cracking left hook. Tommy Morrison was pretty lethal with his too. In the lighter weights Pipino Cuevas and Nonito Donaire both had wicked left hooks.
