That’s a sorry excuse to delay a fight for five years. Then again, Floyd used a lot of those. Not surprised his fans would loyally follow his lead.

This is exactly what happened and it's laughable that some people still side with Floyd on this. Even outside of factual stuff to prove deluded people wrong, you can take one look at the fighters records and character and figure out pretty fast who was ducking who.

“That fight [Mayweather] can still be there for us in November [2012],” Bob Arum told The Times.

That position brought a strong reaction from rival promoter and former fighter Oscar De La Hoya, who helps promote Mayweather and said the 42-0 welterweight champion has already reserved May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for boxing’s dream fight.

“I say to Manny, fighter to fighter, ‘Step it up, tell Arum what you want,’ ” De La Hoya said. “You’re the fighter. You’re a congressman. You call the shots here and decide who you’re going to fight.”

De La Hoya said he’s confident Mayweather wants the mega-bout. De La Hoya said he has spoken to Mayweather’s advisor and manager, Al Haymon, and received further assurance.

“We know who doesn’t want the big fight now,” De La Hoya said. “And his name is Bob Arum.”

Blame Arum for no Pac-Floyd fight

It was just this week that Arum said he would go to the Philippines to meet with Pacquiao and present him with the names of four possible opponents for May or June: Miguel Cotto, Marquez, Lamont Peterson and Timothy Bradley Jr.

Arum figured Mayweather would be in jail and off the table. Now that Mayweather is available and seemingly would like to make the match, Arum suddenly isn't interested.

He used the lame excuse of the cut Pacquiao suffered against Marquez, saying he might not be ready for May. (I've never heard of a cut taking more than six months to heal.) However, earlier this week, when Arum thought Mayweather would be on ice behind bars, he said there was a good possibility Pacquiao would fight in May.

Moments after Mayweather was granted the continuance, Arum changed his tune.

"We're fighting in June, one of the four guys," Arum told me over the phone.

I already posted the timeline you glossed over. He agreed to full testing by 2011. From 2011-2015 is was straight excuses to prolong the fight. Wait for Manny to soften up from tough battles.

Check out what I posted there. Why didn't he fight him May 5th, 2012 when Floyd was asking for the fight. Arum was saying Manny might fight in May when he thought Mayweather would be in jail. Once Mayweather was freed up, Pacquiao suddenly needed 6 months for a cut to heal and won't fight till June.


And tell me if you believe that quotation from Oscar De La Hoya around November 2011 when he said Floyd was ready to go....but Pacquiao's team said no because he prefers Marquez again. Hmmm. You seem to have missed that in your outline somehow.

Why do you always think that if I believe one thing said by someone you have to try and play gotcha and insist I must agree with them all of the time? With you it’s always all or nothing at all, that’s not how the world works, at least not the real world the rest of us reside in.

Floyd never begged for the fight. It was there any time he wanted it. I laid out the time line of what happened and when Manny agreed to full testing. It took Floyd the better part of five years to run out of excuses and for Manny to shows signs of wear and tear before he was finally backed into a corner and had to fight him.

Where does that come from "afraid of stricter drug testing" - how is that conclusion drawn?

He had his arm react to a needle before the Morales fight, lost and convinced himself that his aching arm was the cause. I don't see a resistance to the drug testing only an insistence that there be extended period between the test and the fight.

Based on what info do you say he resisted drug testing?

Here he is rejecting a 14 day cut-off from his own mouth.

You keep talking about this two tbs spoon stuff but the amount of blood is irrelevant and you are trying to make his reluctance to give blood right before the fight sound absurd. It was about the procedure not the amount of blood.

Have you been paying attention to what I'm telling you? He says he needed 30 days to recover from giving the blood. When he was busted giving blood 24 days out, he was forced to lower it to 24 days out. He was offered a 14 day cutoff. He said no to that.


Have you ever needed 24 days to recover from giving blood? How about 14 days? That was the issue. I'd understand if it was HALF THE BLOOD IN HIS BODY, but it was 2 tbsps of blood. Don't know why you have a problem with me saying that.
