I'm certain a lot of fighters were on blow in the 70's and 80s, ashpma pills, amphetamines etc - these cats were wild. if german soldiers used meth im sure the boxing underworld presented fighters with drugs. Duran openly admits in his book they injected him with adrenaline or something in the second viruet fight and he said his heart was racing.

I don't even think half the roids they use today are actually that beneficial, fighters use them because it makes them confident.

I think the greatest effect that they have is speeding up healing time and markedly slowing down the natural physical decline all athletes suffer as they age, noticeably lengthening careers and most importantly lengthening career primes.

When it all comes down to it... thats the truth. As a matter of fact, what bugs me to no end is fighters are not allowed to take medically approved steriods for injuries that the public is allowed to take. To me that is ridiculous. I would love to see James Toney heal, so he can fight on, yet because the preparation is steriodal, it becomes a no no. Athletes need more complete medical cures, not less complete.
