John Ort - the creator behind today's boxing mess

Finally, found a pic of them together, who changed the boxing world.

John Ort - an unknown name to most boxing fans, but his actions had a devastating
impact to the sport of boxing.

Mr. King and John Ort, the latter manipulating The Ring ratings which gave the boxing orgs power.
If it hadn’t been for that Ort guy, we hadn’t had multiple champions in today’s pro boxing.

    https://boxrec.com/media/index.php/R...gazine_Scandal

"As a result of The Ring's loss of credibility, the television networks had no choice but to rely on the
ratings of the WBA and WBC, thus increasing the power and influence of the sanctioning bodies."

Then Ring needs to go back to being unbiased, not being owned by a promotional company, so they can be the top name in lineal champions again.

The overt bias of their ownership is why I cancelled my online subscription and stay away from the site now.

All these titles ain’t good for the fans, but I have to reluctantly admit that they (the titles) are good for the fighters.
Giving them an opportunity to earn some extra money. And for the boxer who hangs up his gloves, having won or
fought for even a minor belt will be a memory better than nothing.

And since it’s the fighters that are doing the hard work, maybe it’s fairer to see things from their perspective.

          - -Ring been circling the drain with the death of Nat wouldn't even exist today without Oscars largess. I'd say overall they're semi-respectable in they allow public commentary that is often less than flattering

I agree with what you said but I think the advantages go even deeper. E.g. Teofimo Lopez signed on exclusively with Arum/WBC and with only six well timed fights started his run (verbally) to the Loma fight and with only 13 fights got a shot at a title and then Loma by his 15th fight.

He had all the promotinal advantages Top Rank and the WBC brought to the table. Without them he never gets there that fast.

It almost like we need to look at fighters as promoter/sanctioning body products and Pepsi - Coke challenges are going to be rare; they're not good for buisness. But I can't blame Lopez for making the exclusive deal it was smart.

Is De La Hoya still the owner of The Ring?
                If so, I'm not concerned.

A decent press owner should never interfere with the editorial stuff.
And the current editors haven't always been nice to De La Hoya in their writings.
