The reality is that he specifically said he would fight for any promoter, he signed with a promoter, and he ducked out of the fight.

So now your argument is that Dempsey is a liar and we can't trust his word? That's an interesting argument.

As far as reading pass the literal you need to learn how to learn history. That was a Rickard - Kearns dispute you posted. Learn the backstories so you can move pass the literal and see the mechanics at work.

Wills was a pawn who not only got used but abused.

    You should stop already!
Unbelievable. I wrote the top part before getting to this point...and here you are doing exactly what I said above. Now your argument is that Dempsey is a liar so disregard anything he said. lol. Meaning...when he said he would fight for any promoter, he was actually ducking all the promoters that he was inviting to waste time with putting offers together. Is that now your official defense????

And continuing to try to hide behind Rickard and Kearns is not going to work, buddy. Neither of them broke that contract. And we know that Dempsey specifically said anyone who gets the signatures gets the fight. Then he backed down and ran away.

What you should learn to do is accept reality. He said he would sign with anyone. He signed a contract. He broke the contract. Are these facts? Stop pulling bullshlt out of your ass and pretending that it makes sense. Even you must know that it's pure bullshlt what you say. Dempsey himself disagrees with you and you are now writing that we should disregard what he says because your agenda is what's important. Unbelievable. Give it up, buddy.

So if you want to continue, please explain why Dempsey would lie about being open to fight for any promoter for the Wills match. I'd love to know how much more fantastic this story will become. So basically, he's saying, "Make me a billion dollar offer and get my signature. I'm ready..." but when they step up, he says, "Nah, I was just playing." And that's what you're arguing is perfectly OK. lmao. Sounds like a DUCK to me, but please, continue!

Dempsey went so far as to say, "The one who gets the signatures gets the fight." That really came back to bite him in the ass, didn't it

You really see me telling you not to believe PR hype by a fighter the same as me calling Dempsey a liar?

Then every fighter from the Grrat John L to today is a liar at some level.

Don't duck it,. Explain why Dempsey would be lying when he said he would fight for any promoter for the Wills fight. What you mean is that he was inviting offers that he knew he would never accept, right?

When he said, "Whoever gets my signature gets the fight," he meant, "I might sign the contract, but I'm not fighting." Is that your argument?

Now we are at: "Don't believe the PR hype because it isn't true. But Dempsey's not lying, because what he says is true."

Like I said, this is a fantastic story. The man tells the truth even when he lies.

When the Great John L said " I can lick any son of a b itch in the bar " did you expect him to actually take on any challenge made? It took Kilraine 18 months to force Sullivan to fight him and that was after Sullivan got what he wanted first.

Hype - it is always been part of the game - loud and spoken to hyperbole.

          Not lying, it's prize fighting.

We don't need to use other examples.

Explain why Dempsey was just speaking hype when he said any promoter can have the Wills fight, and when he said any promoter who gets his signature will get the fight.

"PR hype" that I should NOT believe, right? "Don't believe the hype," right? Why shouldn't I believe it? Is it the truth or not?

I'd love to continue hearing your fantastic story!

By the way, you have the nerve to mention Kilraine waiitng 18 months when Wills waited 6 years and didn't get the fight. Great example! Maybe Jack Dempsey had kidney and liver collapse like John L had a year before the Kilraine fight? What ailment did Dempsey have? Tell us more, because I think it might have been known as "yellow streak."

                  It's so quiet....

Did your bedtime story finally rock you to sleep? It was just getting good. You were going to explain what Jack Dempsey gained by hyping promoters into believing that whomever got his signature on a contract for the Harry Wills fight would get the Harry Wills fight. We see that you are in fact correct, it must have been merely hype since the promoter who got his signature for the Harry Wills fight didn't get the fight. In fact, Dempsey didn't allow any promoter to get the fight. He didn't even allow Rickard to get the fight when he was trying to put it on, via Kearns pricing him out, you will surely like to add. Never Dempsey's fault...or is it?

The great thing about that '26 contract is that you can't blame Kearns, you can't blame Rickard, you can only blame Dempsey....for promoting hype, as you've now established. Think about that.

I think the new format may have something to do with it. For me at least, if I read someone quoted or responded to me and I don't respond right away I cant find what they said later on. Kinda just give up on conversation being a luddite that I am
