Hey I have listening (audio book) to Willam Mnchester's The Glory and the Dream - a narrative pop US History 1932-1972 (written sometime in the middle 70s) I suspect you would enjoy it.

Wrestling, pro wrestling, is fake. It was just as fake in Marcianos time. Nothing Marciano was doing in that ring was reality prior to or during filming.
