Oh yeah, 1990 is "recent" but 1977 is "Jurassic". Please continue talking out of your anus.....I need the laughs.
Your inability to even comprehend the argument is worrisome. As to your laughter, Ecclesiastes 7:6 springs to mind.

      You have no argument.

In your case Poet 3:19 springs to mind: Quit before you make an even bigger ass out of yourself than you already have.

All Taylor had to do was respond to the Ref's questions, it's clear as can be, he looked away from the Ref and never replied, Steele had no choice but stop it, saying otherwise shows lack of knowledge of the fight game, all it took was, Yes when asked if he was ok, or any reply, instead, slow the tape down of the fight, he has a dumb founded look on his Face, looking towards his corner while the ref is talking to him, look at Diego Corrales vs Castillo I think it was, Corrales looked to be finished, he got up at the count of 9 nearly counted out, the Red asked if he was Ok, after taking a beating and twice he went down and twice he replied to the ref, he looked him straight in the face and replied, Taylor looked confused, beaten with no answer, there is no other choice here for Steele, excellent stoppage here for him, he had no other option at that point, now if Taylor replies in anyway at all looking at the Ref, then cry FOUL!

          - -Lou Duva on the ring apron screaming At the ref, a clear DQ in 90% of jurisdictions.

Steele also refused to DQ TUE 50-0 when unc Roger stormed the ring to attack Steele and Zab that started a ring riot...only in boxing!

Scott and Joseph are right. Taylor was standing up straight and not getting hit. Chavez was not sent to a neutral corner. If he was, like he was supposed to be, then there is no possibility of Taylor being hit again, unless it's a cheap shot after the bell.

It's not the refs job to be the timekeeper. He has to evaluate whether the response from the fighter is satisfactory and Taylor did himself no favours with his response.

Yes, he obviously could have lasted another 2 seconds but Taylor only has himself to blame for reacting poorly after getting up.

The ref did the right thing by focusing solely on the fighter.
